'Full Frontal' On The Boyfriend Loophole: Who Is Going to Protect the Men, Sam!

I hate when Sam Bee and I disagree, but, man, did she get this one wrong. Like, I’m a feminist too or whatever, but this level of blatant man bashing is so completely over line, I can’t believe any dude would even let it air.

GIVE UP THEIR GUNS, SAM? SERIOUSLY? Why don’t you just kill them while you’re at it? I would call this a witch hunt, but I can’t because YOU’VE TAKEN AWAY ALL OF THEIR GUNS.

And did you stop to think that maybe the charges are false? Like, sometimes when people are arguing, things get heated. And everyone knows how easy it is to obtain a conviction for domestic abuse (Editor’s Note: this is factually untrue). One wrong move, and all the sudden an innocent guy is completely defenseless against intruders or his wife/girlfriend/child who he now can’t even safely beat without people getting all on him about it.

When’s this going to stop, Sam? Did you even consider that maybe this guy has problems we aren’t helping him with? Harvey Weinstein has been a sex addict for years, and no one bothered helping him. Kevin Spacey has an addiction to alcohol so severe he’s done terrible things of which he’s deeply ashamed. Who’s protecting him? (Other than an entire industry devoted to preventing stars from facing the ramifications of their actions, provided those actions are committed by a man). Brett Ratner has an allergy to shellfish so intense, it makes him compulsively masturbate, and all we did was laugh at him and refuse to see his terrible, terrible movies. It’s gone too far, Sam.

But here’s where it stops. I hope at least. Otherwise we’ll soon be living in a world where men are expected to behave like decent human beings or face the consequences of their actions. And who wants to live in a world like that? (Additional Editor’s Note: Basically all of us who aren’t assholes.)
