I need you to watch that video first.

Because today, I don’t have time for any of the niceties. Today, much like my favorite band The National (and before anyone jumps into the comments to tell me how much you dislike The National, I will never care that you think that) all I’ve got going on today is fuck you, Karl Rove.

And here I will take a quick step back. See, as that article that I linked to that you guys all totally clicked on and read explains, The National features a Karl Rove quote in a song off of their newest album. That quote is:

People like you are still living in what we call the reality-based community. You believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality. That’s not the way the world really works anymore. We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you are studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors, and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.

It was “supposedly” said to New York Times reporter Ron Suskind, although Rove denies he ever said that. I put “supposedly” in quotations because Rove is a liar. Shit, sorry. He’s a “liar.” I don’t know, nothing matters anymore.

And that whole idea of nothing mattering anymore? Rove goddamn near perfected it. I mean, politicians have been liars forever, but Rove really pioneered the act of denying he’d just been caught in a blatant lie. He did so based on the idea that things like “truth” and “fact” didn’t matter if we’re in charge. We don’t have to abide or acknowledge the basic elements of reality because America First. And if it requires putting a trust-fund-baby, business failure (seriously? Bush Exploration? Really?) with little to no political experience and significant daddy issues into the White House despite losing the popular vote, Karl Rove is going to do it. Because America doesn’t need someone with intelligence or competency to run the country. America needs someone to say “Fuck you, we do what we want” to the rest of the world.

So fuck Karl Rove forever. President Trump isn’t the exoneration of the worst presidency in the history of the U.S., it’s the sequel.
