The Russians Didn't Hack the Election, Obama Did, Says Trump Foreign Advisor

John Bolton — who briefly served as Ambassador to the U.N. under George W. Bush’s administration (he was a recess appointment, and never managed to survive a confirmation hearing) — is now reportedly in line to be Donald Trump’s deputy Secretary of State.

He is a nutbag.

In an interview with Fox News yesterday, Bolton strongly implied that the hacks into the DNC and RNC during the election campaign were not, in fact, the work of Russians, as the CIA has suggested. Rather, they were a false flag operation by the Obama Administration.

“We have to know the facts here, and it’s not at all clear to me, just viewing this and from the outside, that this hacking into the DNC and the RNC computers was not a false flag operation.”

He based this theory on the fact that a sophisticated foreign hacking operation would not leave cyber fingerprints behind, ergo, it must have been Obama’s intelligence services who hacked into the DNC and released thousands of emails to Wikileaks damaging to the Clinton campaign in order to hurt Trump’s chances at winning the election. Or something.

“Who else might want to influence the election and why they would leave fingerprints that point to the Russians,” Bolton asked. “If you think the Russians did this, then why did they leave fingerprints?”

Asked if, by suggesting it was a “false flag” operation, he was implying that Obama was behind the hacks, Bolton responded, “We just don’t know.”

Does Bolton actually believe this, or is he just trying to further muddy the issue and give Trump supporters a far-fetched alternate theory that they can cling to? If it’s the latter, it seems to be working:
