Don't Read This Post. Seriously. You'll Regret It.

You know how there are those stories you can’t unremember, those images you can’t unsee. Those ones that creep into your head late at night like an earworm and you just can’t shake the thought of it. And so there you are fretful and awake for what seems like forever. This is that kind of story.

Oh, you’re still here. Fine, dude. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

A 42-year-old woman in Chennai, India was experiencing a strange and painful sensation around her nose and eyes at night. So, she went to the Stanley Medical College Hospital complaining of “a tingling, crawling sensation.” She was shuttled about, perplexing doctors, because whatever was causing this crawling sensation, it was moving.

Did you figure out what it is yet? A FULL-GROWN COCKROACH. No, really.

Apparently the big bugger crawled up the woman’s NOSE—presumably while she was sleeping—and then nestled at its top, between her eyes for twelve hours. “Whenever it moved, it gave me a burning sensation in my eyes,” she confessed.

The good news is doctors found it when it was—ugh—still alive. Apparently, if it died, it could have caused an infection in her brain, since it was chilling right next to her susceptible head meats.

The bad news is there’s video of this ghastly eyeball bugger. And in for a penny in for a pound, so here it is:

Hey, but this kind of thing is super rare. Dr M.N. Shankar said this is the first case like this he’s seen in 30 years of practicing medicine. Gizmodo reports it’s far more likely you’d have a cockroach—or some insect—crawl into your ear canal while you’re sleeping.

But that’s not a problem. You’re never sleeping again. At least not without a pantyhose over your head, a la Raising Hope.
