Look around! Look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now!

Musical theater nerds are finally getting some respect thanks to the success of the Golden Globe winning TV series Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and the Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning Hamilton. Now you know the latter’s creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is a musical theater nerd of the highest caliber, as Hamilton’s lyrics are stuffed with references to other Broadway shows. But the whole cast got in a glorious greekout with their Hamilton/Sweeney Todd mash-up.

Performed for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the cast transformed their opening number “Alexander Hamilton” into a song about the demon barber of Fleet Street, complete with references to Sweeney Todd lyrics, classical stagings, and even preferred pronunciations. Squee!

Bravo!
