We’ll have follow-up discussions on Game of Thrones season finale all week, as well as more speculation about how the final two seasons play out. However, the big question of the night with big questions is this: Was the R+L=J fan theory right? In the season finale, “The Winds of Winter,” Bran returned to the Tower of Joy, where he witnessed his father, Ned Stark, have a conversation with his sister, Lyanna Stark, about her new son, Jon Snow, confirming what many had already assumed: Lyanna Stark is Jon Snow’s real mother.
What Lyanna whispered to Ned, however, remains a secret, although she did say never to mention it to Robert, because Robert would kill the child.
Does that mean that Robert is Jon’s real father? As in, the R in R+L=J? is Robert Baratheon? Many on people on Twitter believed so.
'Robert will kill him. You know he will.' #GameOfThrones #ThronesYall

What if it isn't R+L=J what if it is Robert Baratheon+Lyanna= John Snow. The seed is strong. #GameofThrones #JonSnow

And if you read the books, Ned is way uneasy when Robert asks about Jon's mother. No wonder why #GameofThrones

So many doubts, so they confirmed the theory that Jon is Rob Baratheon's son. #GameofThrones

On the other hand, others believe that Lyanna told Ned not to tell Robert because Robert would have Jon Snow killed because Jon is a Targaryen’s. In other words, Jon Snow is Rhaegar Targaryen’s son. Just as many people believe the original R+L=J theory was confirmed in “The Winds of Winter.”
The R+L=J theory is confirmed. Jon is Rhaegar Targaryen & Lyanna Stark's son. He is the promised prince. Can't wait for S7!! #GameofThrones

We’ll have to wait until next season (at least) to find out (although, he’s totally Rhaegar’s son).
