Who Are The Monsters That Use BBQ Sauce for Their Nuggets?!

Friends, there comes a time when you’re on day 1-million of being at home, and you find an almost 2-month old packet of BBQ sauce that accidentally came with your last McNuggets order before all this happened, and you decide that since it came from the before-time, it must be OK and maybe you’ve been too stuck in your old ways for too long and it’s time to give BBQ sauce a chance again. When that day comes for you, as it came for me today, let this be a warning—BBQ sauce is possibly one of the most inferior dipping sauces McDonalds has to offer. It is all about Sweet and Sour sauce, which is delicious on both nuggets and fries, and this has been a fact since 1990 when my mom got all of us kids all the sauces and we did a taste test, and we all agreed Sweet and Sour was the best. Sometimes the old ways are stick around for a reason.

BBQ sauce is an abomination—I don’t understand people whose go-to flavor of chips is that when Sour Cream and Onion is right there!! That is not to say that some of the newer (well, post-1990 sauces, since that was the last time I really ventured out of the comfort zone) aren’t worth your time. I’m happy to report that Buffalo sauce, which I also got in my wrong-order from the Golden Arches is pretty damn good, and I would try it again. Honey Mustard and Spicy Mustard may have their time and place here, but frankly it’s been so long since I tried them, I couldn’t speak authoritatively on the matter.

BBQ sauce, however, I had today and I can tell you it is not good. Anyone who is trying to sell you on that is not to be trusted. Case in point, by the screen grab I took above, from this McDonald’s video, it’s Kanye West’s go-to sauce. Do you really want to trust Kayne West over me?!?! Wait, don’t answer that.

BBQ sauce really only belongs on actual BBQ, and even then, wet rub BBQ is inferior to dry rub BBQ, so ultimately, BBQ sauce has very few appropriate uses—and to circle back to what I initially said here on this post, it’s never on your damn nuggets.

…or, you know, follow your heart since I presumably don’t have to eat your nuggets and put whatever you want on it (although I truly hope it’s not ketchup, which is a whole other subject/post for another day.) It’s up to you, really.
