Starbucks Christmas Tree Frappuccino Doesn't Taste Like Melted Tinsel!

I would like to start by saying that my Christmas Tree Frappuccino did not look like the header photo and I laughed really loudly when the barista handed it to me, causing her to giggle as well.

I’ve been busy today, but when Ursula sent up the Starbucks Drink Signal, I immediately drove to Target to get one from the Starbucks inside. I had to get meds for my dog, damn it, and I’m more than happy to be reviewing drinks I’d be drinking anyway, because American Dream.

So what is in this Christmas Tree drink? There’s no gin, which is surprising. There is mocha, peppermint, matcha-infused whip on top, and there was supposed to be candied cranberry, caramel drizzle, and a strawberry on top. I am more than fine without that nasty cranberry on top and a strawberry is just a healthy hurdle in my pursuit of obesity.

I prefer no mocha in my coffee as a general rule. I don’t like peppermint in my beverages as a general attempt to avoid flashbacks to Rumple Minze post-high school. However, the Christmas Tree Frappe blended the two perfectly, and what I had was a cold Andes Mint in beverage form. AND I LOVED IT. I drank the whole damn thing, shivering like an idiot, because it is 30 degrees ‘Murican in Ohio today and with bonus snow flurries. It was joy in a cup, though not on the same level as a Snickerdoodle Hot Chocolate.

The matcha-infused whip was interesting. I didn’t hate it, but I also made sure not to stir it into the rest of the drink. I feared that the matcha wasn’t there for more than the attempt at treeness and didn’t want it to taint the delicious of the drink itself. I did eat globs of it off my finger and straw, trying to place the flavor, since I didn’t look at any information about the drink before tasting it. I liked the matcha flavor, but I needed it to just look pretty today.

All in all, if you live somewhere warm or don’t mind freezing in order to drink it, the Starbucks Christmas Tree Frappuccino is a success, unlike some of their other limited time drinks. If you get it, definitely ask for the caramel drizzle, but I would pass on the candied cranberry. BARF.
