Tom DeLonge, the co-singer and guitarist of Blink-182, also happens to be a big believer in aliens, UFOs, and conspiracy theories. You may recall he produced Unidentified: Inside America’s UFO Investigation — about those unidentified UFOs spotted by fighter planes a while back — for the History Channel, because that’s what the History Channel airs these days.

Now he’s made a movie about teenagers and aliens that I’m sure is trying to capitalize on Stranger Things, which capitalized on ’80s Amblin nostalgia, and he convinced Richard Kind to be in it because Kind — who has 262 credits on IMDb — will appear in anything no matter how big or small the part. Monsters of California is about Dallas Edwards and his derelict friends, who go on a quest for the meaning behind a series of mysterious, paranormal events in Southern California. While I would not necessarily recommend the movie based on the trailer, I do approve of the line, “I’d tell you, but I’d have to f**k your father.”

The film, loosely based on DeLonge’s childhood experiences with his friends, also stars Casper Van Dien and is produced by DeLonge’s own debt-ridden company, To the Stars.

Monsters of California will be released when Tom DeLonge damn well feels like it.
