So what if I did do a trailer round-up yesterday? Apparently Hollywood didn’t notice, because they came out and dropped a few more that I simply couldn’t resist.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw — In theaters August 2
This trailer is working SO HARD, y’all. It’s selling the hell out of some crazy action, mostly vehicular-based, but that’s to be expected. It’s a Fast & Furious movie, after all. But it’s also… just a straight-up buddy comedy, too? The one-upmanship between The Rock and Jason Statham is probably the biggest draw — and that’s saying something, considering this movie literally has Idris Elba declaring himself “Black Superman.” But the trailer also offers a glimpse at some more of the predictable narrative globetrotting destinations, revealing that Hobbs will be taking Shaw home to Samoa — and by the time it cut to Hobbs leading his family in a rousing Haka, I couldn’t help but wonder what would happen if The Rock grew his hair out and turned this into a live-action Moana sequel. Only with more explosions. And a dour, bald, Statham-y Moana.

Don’t judge me. Just let me enjoy my fantasies for the next few months, until the movie comes out.

Child’s Play — In theaters June 21
Everyone seems to have a hot take on this reboot, and I get it. It’s easy to be critical, especially of Chucky’s fancy new CGI face. But I have to admit: I’m kinda digging this. I mean, I’ll support anything Aubrey Plaza and Brian Tyree Henry want to do, full stop. Also, Mark Hamill does creepy doll-voice almost as well as he does bored Harrison Ford-voice! But mostly, the update is kinda ticking all my boxes. If there’s anything I find scarier than murderous talking dolls, it’s drones, connected smart homes, and our current “surveillance state of convenience” culture. Also, the trailer features A LOT of screaming, which bodes well.

Tuca & Bertie — Premieres My 3 on Netflix
I mean, it’s a cartoon starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong as bird-BFFs in their thirties. What — are you not gonna watch the hell out of that? At one point Bertie recites the affirmation, “I’m an adult woman” and then Sailor Moon’s her outfit into a business suit. And let me tell you, that RESONATED with me.
