Trailers You Missed: This Latest Trailer Still Isn't Selling Me On 'Hellboy'

It’s been a good week for TV and Streaming trailers! And… then there were some movies. Let’s get started, shall we?

Hellboy — In Theaters April 12
The good news is, the studio clearly took to heart the lukewarm responses people had to the first trailer for this movie, and the latest one is a totally different vibe. They’re trying! They’re really trying! Unfortunately… I’m still lukewarm on it. Which is sad because the cast kicks ass. David Harbour’s Hellboy-face, however, is still pretty unexpressive.

Speaking of great casts…

When They See Us — Coming to Netflix on May 31
Thirty years after 5 young black men were wrongly convicted of rape, Ava DuVernay is bringing a 4-part limited series about the famous case, told from the boys’ perspective, to Netflix. And the cast? ahem… Michael K. Williams, Vera Farmiga, John Leguizamo, Felicity Huffman, Niecy Nash, Blair Underwood, Christopher Jackson, Joshua Jackson, Omar J. Dorsey, Adepero Oduye, Famke Janssen, Aurora Perrineau, William Sadler, Jharrel Jerome, Jovan Adepo, Aunjanue Ellis, Kylie Bunbury, Marsha Stephanie Blake, Storm Reid, Chris Chalk, Freddy Miyares, Justin Cunningham, Ethan Herisse, Caleel Harris, Marquis Rodriguez and Asante Blackk. PHEW that’s a mouthful. A very, very talented mouthful.

Fosse/Verdon — Coming to FX on April 9
Sam Rockwell plays Bob Fosse, the visionary choreographer/director, and Michelle Williams plays the famed dancer Gwen Verdon. This limited series tracks their creative and romantic partnership — and DANG does it look dramatic! There’s art, and love, and suffering, and stuff! Whatever, I’m in it for the dancing.

Stockholm — in limited release April 12, and wide release later
Based on the 1973 bank heist that inspired the phrase “Stockholm Syndrome,” Ethan Hawke plays the sympathetic crook, just trying to spring his buddy Mark Strong outta prison by taking hostages (including Noomi Rapace) — but not, like, hurting them. He’s really a good guy, and the hostages trust him more than the cops, and also he wants a mustang like Steve McQueen drove in Bullitt and dude. Samesies.

The Tick: Season 2 — returning to Amazon on April 5
I so unabashedly love this show, it’s not even funny. I loved the first season, and I’m ready for more, and I don’t really know what else there is to say about it. Except maybe that I still think Alan Tudyk makes a mighty fine Dangerboat.

The OA: Part II — Coming to Netflix on March 22
I, uh, also have nothing to say about this. I didn’t see the first season, and it feels like that came out AGES ago, and people either loved or hated it with a fiery passion. All I know is there was some weird dance or something, and maybe that’s why Brit Marling is now in an alternate reality? Anyway, if you’re curious you’ve got a few weeks to binge the first season before this one returns.

We Die Young — it’s On Demand, like, today? I think?
Jean-Claude Van Damme is a white savior in a “crime-ridden barrio of Washington, D.C.” and… HARD PASS. I’m sorry for even bringing that one up. Ugh.

And finally, I’m using my limited Deputy Editor cred to skirt our No-Fallon Policy and share this clip, because… well, my fascination with the John Mulaney/Pete Davidson friendship is just THAT strong. For what it’s worth, though, Mulaney and Davidson are both far more interesting than Jimmy Fallon (in general, and also in this clip).
