Aliens are always drawn to these random New Mexico towns and it seems Amazon’s The Vast of Night is no exception to that concept. The first trailer for the highly-anticipated film is ominous, eerie, but also really fun.

The Vast of Night follows the story of switchboard operator Fay Crocker (Sierra McCormick) and radio DJ Everett (Jake Horowitz). Set in the 1950s (though the exact year is unclear), Fay and Everett take notice of abnormal audio frequencies, which then alerts them to a possible UFO flying over their small New Mexico town. To discover whether it is actually a UFO, they work together to unravel the mystery that leads them into unknown territory. There also seems to be a cute romance set up between the two main characters, so we’ll see how that goes.

The trailer has all the hints of a good alien conspiracy story, but The Vast of Night seems to have a lot more charisma than other films of its kind. Plus, I’ve heard great things about the film from our very own Kristy Puchko. Add to the fact that the film, which made the rounds at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Slamdance Film Festival and more, has been heavily buzzed about already makes this one a must-watch.

The Vast of Night is Andrew Patterson’s directorial debut. Written by James Montague and Craig W. Sanger, the film also stars Gail Cronauer, Cheyenne Barton, and more. The film is being released on March 13, 2020.
