Marriage Story is one of 2019’s most acclaimed movies. It’s played every major Fall film festival, from Venice to Toronto to New York, and it’s left many a critic simultaneously applauding and sobbing. Netflix is distributing Noah Baumbach’s latest movie and given the immensely impressive line-up they have this year — including Martin Scorsese’s The Irishman and Fernando Meirelles’s The Two Popes — it speaks volumes that this is the film they’re putting front and center for Oscar glory.
The new trailer shows Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson navigating the perils of divorce as he, a successful theatre director, remains in New York and she, an actress, relocates to her native Los Angeles. The official trailer dropped today, for those of you needing a moment to get weepy on this fine Thursday.
And here’s the poster.
