I’m an Amy Adams fan. I think she deserves all of the awards and flowers. And Marielle Heller, the director of her new film Nightbitch, did a great job with A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and Can You Ever Forgive Me? Both won several awards in their seasons. But, while Nightbitch looks like it’s going to be great fun, the tone of the trailer is all over the place and I don’t know if this is The One for Amy.
I felt this character’s struggle so deep in my bones that it hurt.
Nightbitch also stars Scoot McNairy, Zoë Chao (The Afterparty), Jason Ritter, Mary Holland, Laura Meadows, and Archana Rajan. It opens in theaters on December 6th.
Will Ferrell (Elf) and his best friend, Harper Steele, have made a documentary. It’s about a road trip they took together across America after Harper came out to Will as a trans woman. I did not have Will Ferrell creating a thoughtful investigation of gender identity in the United States on any of my bingo cards. But here we are, and it looks like it will be a beautiful, funny, full box of Kleenex film.
Will & Harper begins streaming on Netflix on September 27th
I need to know what Ryan Murphy has on the executives over at FX. They keep letting him develop shows that dissolve into confusing puddles of plot holes and BDSM gear on the backend. His latest, Grotesquerie, is coming to FX and Hulu later this month.
This is the one where Murphy makes Travis Kelce into a TV star. His participation is less objectionable than Kim Kardashian’s. So, there’s that.
Grotesquerie really stars Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance, and Lesley Manville. It will premiere on FX and Hulu on September 25th.
For the record, we here at Pajiba were way ahead on the idea of Meth Gators. But I guess it was destiny that The Asylum get the movie into production before us. The studio behind classics like the Sharknado franchise, Atlantic Rim: Resurrection, and Airplane vs. Volcano now brings us Attack Of The Meth Gator.
Brooke, behind you!
