My mother didn’t enjoy Bad Moms, but a whole lot of other mothers did to the tune of $183 million worldwide, so of course we are getting an unnecessary sequel. At least STX Entertainment had enough sense to come up with a unique enough “different, but the same” premise for the sequel — by setting it during the holidays with Bad Moms Christmas. Folks, there is a reason why the holidays are one of the most stressful times of the year, what with all the shopping, cooking, cleaning, decorating all the while attempting to maintain the veneer of HOLIDAY PERFECTION families and the media force matriarchs to uphold. There is some serious comedy to be mined from this concept.
So expect the heat to be turned waaaaaaaaaay up for the OG Bad Moms by bringing in the people who can instantly raise a woman’s blood pressure, crush her self-esteem and spend a fortune on therapy - their mothers. Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski and Cheryl Hines have been cast respectively as Carla, Amy and Kiki’s mothers. With such a talented trio of seasoned actresses possessing excellent comedic chops going toe to toe with the returning cast, its going to be a holiday no-one will soon forget.
