This is a conversation the staff actually had in Slack the other day: Which sequels are better than the originals. I went all-in on Terminator 2 being the best sequel ever before Emily reminded me that Aliens exists. The rub with those films is that the originals are also masterpieces, making the upward trajectory of the franchise all the more upsetting when they both eventually shat their respective beds.

Over at Reddit, u/KingOfGoldfish decided he wanted people to duke it out in the comments concerning the best sequels made. Some of the answers are correct and others are not correct, as per my opinion (which means nada).

Then there are those that argue TDK is a great movie but not a good Batman movie, to which I say, “huh?”:

As a parent who had a small child while Shrek was still a new franchise, this comment makes no sense to me at all. AT. ALL.

Of course Terminator 2 is in here. I don’t clickbait (much).

That’s a classic choice right there, although arguments could be made that Batman 1989 cannot be topped. Then again, Michelle Pfieffer in a catsuit renders most arguments invalid.
