With Ben Affleck out of the picture thanks to the long overdue death of Zack Snyder’s Murderverse, it was only a matter of time until the rumor mill started spewing out contenders for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. But while the frontrunners have been Jake Gyllenhaal and Oscar Isaac, a new candidate entered the mix this week, and I definitely did not see this coming:
However, it should be noted that the source of the RPattz rumor seems to be this BossLogic tweet, and to be frank, I don’t know what his track record is for scoops. However, he has received praise from Henry Cavill for his fan art, so there’s a chance he might have connections to digital artists working for the DCEU.
A choice that I never would have thought to try but been hearing some background chatter about Robert Pattinson being looked at, if the talks (source) are true then all of our predictions were wrong 👀😠This might be your new Bruce #thebatman #batman pic.twitter.com/cNDKeRBzyb

As you can see, Pattinson definitely has the Bruce Wayne look, and a Reddit user took it even further by putting him in the cape and cowl.
Fan-Made: Robert Pattinson/Batman Concept (in cowl) from r/DC_Cinematic
Of course, the predictable response is going to be toxic fanboys bringing up the fact that Pattinson starred in Twilight, a vampire series for girls. EWWWWW. So let’s tackle that horseshit head-on.
For starters, Pattinson hated being in those movies, and in the years since, he’s proven his acting chops when given material that isn’t a thinly-veiled abstinence parable. (But if they’re your guilty pleasure, there’s no shame in doing you.) As for the inevitable attacks that he’s a skinny pretty boy who lacks the “physicality” to play Batman, Christian Bale looked exactly like this in The Machinist before filming Batman Begins.
It’s called a personal trainer. I’m pretty sure Warner Bros. can afford one.
That said, if Kristen Stewart is cast as Catwoman alongside BatPattz, then you have my permission to revolt. Now things have officially gone too far. I’ll still be there opening day with cash in hand, but c’mon. However, scratch all that if KStew’s cast with someone besides Batward Cullen, and wow, I swear I didn’t mean to make that cat pun. That was uncalled for. Please take away my keyboard.
