Many of us have reached the age where the rom-com sweethearts of our generation are now playing … parents. Paul Dano and Michelle Williams are practically middle-aged parents in Meet the Fabelmans. Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell play Moms in Bad Moms. And now, Rachel McAdams — who played a 17-year-old in The Notebook — is the mother to an 11-year-old in the adaptation of Judy Blume’s Are YOu There God? It’s Me, Margaret.

She pulls it off, too, in what can only be described as a very cute trailer. As a parent of McAdams’ generation with children the same age as Judy, the timing for this movie could not be better. I hope the film is as resilient across generations as the book has been for the last 50 years.

Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret will hit theaters on April 28th.
