Priyanka Chopra Leaves Behind Beached 'Baywatch' For New Hollywood Projects On The Horizon.
What do you do when your first big Hollywood picture belly flops on a global stage? You drop the receipts for your next few projects lined up and waiting in the wings. Quantico star and veteran Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra is in talks for two Hollywood films films, A Kid Like Jake and Isn’t It Romantic? Chopra would shoot the films in June and July respectively before returning to Quantico in the fall, all the while continuing her press for Baywatch throughout the summer. Damn girl, that is how you turn lemons into lemonade!!! Fellow actors, take notes.
Chopra’s selection of future projects convey a desire to demonstrate her acting range while working on interesting projects. A Kid Like Jake, starring Academy award winner Octavia Spencer (Snowpiercer, Hidden Figures) and directed by Silas Howard (Transparent, This is Us), follows two parents who are in the process of filling out kindergarten applications for their child Jake, who is gender variant. Upon learning they can’t afford private school tuition, the director of Jake’s preschool encourages them to emphasize Jake’s gender variance in order to help their child earn a scholarship. Isn’t It Romantic? will be directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson (The Final Girls) and star Rebel Wilson (Bachelorette, Pitch Perfect), Adam Devine (Workaholics, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates) and Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games, The Dressmaker). The film will follow a young woman (Wilson) fed up with love only to mysteriously find herself trapped inside a romantic comedy.
Baywatch may have bombed but Chopra isn’t one of Bollywood’s most famous and acclaimed actresses for nothing. She knows how to hustle and bounce back from career setbacks as well as any Hollywood veteran - underestimate her at your own peril.
