Oscar Isaac, also known as the internet’s boyfriend, will star in and produce The Great Machine. The movie is an adaptation of the graphic novel Ex Machina by Brian K. Vaughan and artist Tony Harris. The actor’s new movie should not be confused with the Alex Garland sci-fi drama, also called Ex Machina and ironically starred Isaac alongside Alicia Vikander, and Domhnall Gleeson.

The Great Machine is being produced by Legendary and will follow the story of Mitchell Hundred (Oscar Isaac), a former superhero known as the Great Machine who becomes the mayor of New York City in the wake of September 11. The original comic book series ran for 50 issues under DC Comics’ Wildstorm Productions and was focused on Hundred’s time as mayor.

Per THR, the original title of Ex Machina was changed precisely because it was the name of Alex Garland’s sci-fi movie. Shifting the title so that it includes the main character’s superhero name is justified.

Oscar Isaac has kept busy for years now, taking on a variety of roles, including the pilot Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the critically acclaimed Inside Llewyn Davis, Annihilation, and the overlooked A Most Violent Year. The talented actor will next star in the film adaptation of Dune alongside Jason Momoa and Timothée Chalamet, and Zendaya. I think I can speak for everyone when I say I’m ready for more Oscar Isaac in literally any capacity.

Obviously, The Great Machine is still in the early stages of development and does not have a scheduled release date just yet.
