Important Questions About 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Porgs

Every since they popped into early promo footage, Star Wars fans have gone gaga over the porgs. These other-worldly fowl have captured hearts, and sounded war cries. And they are sure to be appear under many a Christmas tree. So following the release of The Last Jedi, several of the Overlords convened to answer the most important questions about the porgs.

Did Chewie eat the porg? Or was he shamed into throwing away his porg dinner?

Dustin: I don’t think he ate the Porg!

Genevieve: I was like “Come on, the porg is already dead! Now you’re just wasting food.”

Kristy: Right? They died in vain if he doesn’t eat it. He’s a scavenger. He knows how lean times can be. I think he ate it. But they totally yucked his yum.

What does a porg taste like?

Kristy: Porgs are said to be based on Puffins that live on the Irish island where the Luke stuff was shot. So, I’d assume they taste like Puffins. Now I don’t know what a puffin tastes like. But it’s my understanding that birds who live near water have a fishier or gamier taste.

Dustin: I dunno: we don’t eat seagulls or anything. It looked delicious, though!

Kristy: I mean, roast meat. Can’t be that bad, right?

Dustin: Exactly!

Kristy: Though I’ve had grouse. That I wouldn’t recommend without the help of LOTS of gravy.

Would you eat porg?

Genevieve: Maybe? If it tasted weirdly fishy probably not, but if it was more similar to duck I wouldn’t be opposed.

Kristy: Oooo. Duck is good.

Dustin: I’ll pretty much try anything once! I’ve had gator and ostrich and squirrel and frogs, so I don’t see why I wouldn’t try Porg! (I mean, as long as it’s not an endangered species. I wouldn’t want to encourage that)

Kristy: Same, Dustin. I’ve tried gator and kangaroo, and just about any form of meat “pudding” I could when I was in the U.K. I’d give it a go.

Seth: I would definitely try porg. I’ve said this at work, to looks of horror, that my rule of eating anything once even applies, in the right circumstance, to long pig.
