Gird Your Lions: Dan Stevens Is Everywhere

It doesn’t seem like so long ago that Dan Stevens crushed our hearts (and Matthew Crawley) in his shocking Downton Abbey exit. But the British dreamboat had bigger dreams. And 2017 seems to be his year, because the guy is EVERYWHERE.

First off, he’s the face of the fucked up and fascinating superhero drama Legion, where Stevens plays a powerful telekinetic/telepath who must battle the powers of evil and his own mental illness.

But his biggest production this year was hands down the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast, where he growled and sang as one of Disney’s most polarizing princes.

He also popped up in Colossal, playing Anne Hathaway’s beastly boyfriend, though not the creature feature’s true monster. If you see one Dan Stevens movie this year, make it this one.

After premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016, the morality tale The Ticket finally hit theaters last month. In it, Stevens plays a blind man who gains the gift of sight, but loses his way. Fun Fact: This is the movie that led to me interviewing Stevens in the shower.

This year Stevens returned to TFF with Permission, where he played Rebecca Hall’s better half. This movie doesn’t have a trailer yet, but here’s an interview with the pair and writer/director Brian Crano:

Stevens can be spotted occasionally in HBO’s weed-centric comedy High Maintenance, rubbing elbows with Amy Ryan.

Plus he co-starred opposite Richard Gere in Norman, a drama that brewed buzz on the festival circuit last fall before hitting theaters in April.

On June 16th, Stevens headlines Kill Switch, a sci-fi thriller that’s just unleashed this teaser.

Then this fall, you can find Stevens in the Thurgood Marshall biopic Marshall, which stars Chadwick Boseman as the first African American Supreme Court Justice. There’s no trailer yet, but here’s the first look:

Finally, The Man Who Invented Christmas might hit this winter. Based on the Les Standiford book, it’ll have Stevens star as Charles Dickens, while focusing on the creation of the holiday tale that would be his legacy. There’s no trailer or images for that one at all. So, um, how about that shower gif from The Guest:
