Disney is unveiling their latest theme-park attraction turned movie franchise. In the wake of more Pirates of the Carribean movies than we can recall, here comes Jungle Cruise, starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt.
OK, so the source “material” is crassly commercial. Yet this movie might be solidly fun. Take a look at the trailer. Aside from the Disneyland ride, Jungle Cruise seems to be plucking inspirations from Johnson’s undeniably charming hit Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Blunt’s jaunty Mary Poppins Returns, and 1951’s classic The African Queen, which pitted the mad charisma of Humphrey Bogart against the dazzling diva Katharine Hepburn.
Plus, Johnson is definitely biting Bogie’s style and we’re not mad at it.
