Back in October, our very own Kristy Puchko spoke with Knives Out director Rian Johnson about Chris Evans possibly playing the dentist in a remake of the musical Little Shop of Horrors. Johnson was over the moon about the idea of Evans being in a musical and that if the director couldn’t do the remake, “someone should” because Evans being in a musical would be “incredible.”

As though by some divine turn of events, Chris Evans (one of the Best Chrises in Hollywood, thank you very much) IS actually in talks to star in the Little Shop of Horrors remake and, get this, he is set to star as the dentist! It’s nice when the stars occasionally align to give us something incredible like this.

The film will be a remake of the 1986 movie starring Steve Martin and Rick Moranis (of Honey, I Shrunk the Kids fame). The 80s movie was originally based on the 1960 dark comedy film, but launched to fame when it was turned into a musical on Broadway in 1982. The 1986 movie is now considered a cult classic.

Greg Berlanti — the super-producer known for directing Love, Simon and for helping launch several superhero shows, collectively known as the Arrowverse, over on The CW — will direct the musical remake. Per THR, Evans is set to star alongside Taron Egerton and Scarlett Johansson, both of whom are in talks for the lead roles of Seymour and Audrey, respectively.

Evans’ character, Orin Scrivello, is sadistic and abusive, taking glee in his job and enjoys using laughing gas a bit TOO much. If you enjoyed the actor’s turn as Ransom in Knives Out, then you’ll love him in Little Shop of Horrors.

The film doesn’t have a scheduled release date yet, but filming is expected to begin this summer.
