Knives Out was a tight, hilarious murder mystery. Rian Johnson’s follow-up to The Last Jedi (which whoops all the ass) was so successful that he sold the highly anticipated Knives Out sequels to Netflix for $469 million. Now, we are closer than ever to the first sequel, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, being released. The film will drop in select theaters and on Netflix on December 23rd, 2022. The team made the announcement on Twitter while revealing a new cast photo.
Nothing brings friends together like a killer party. 🔠Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr, Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson & Dave Bautista star in Rian Johnson's GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY. pic.twitter.com/6hKix67p4L

Seeing Craig return as detective Benoit Blanc just makes me genuinely happy. Having finished his time as Bond, the idea that he would continue his turn as a southern fried sleuth is exciting. Instead of continuing a long-running franchise, he chose to invigorate a new one. Presumably, he must feel good about the films (or at least the paycheck) to sign up for two more. Being paired with a different set of in-demand actors in every movie probably doesn’t hurt.
While I am thrilled to see Daniel Craig lead an all-star cast that includes the likes of Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., and Janelle Monáe, I am most excited to see wrestler-turned-actor Dave Bautista star alongside Craig again. Bautista’s career has been so much fun to watch. While he takes on plenty of action roles, he is an adept comedic actor and seems eager to challenge himself as seen in Blade Runner: 2049. His was the most surprising casting announcement for Glass Onion, and the one I look forward to the most.
