If you thought the everything-plus-the-kitchen-sink sprawl of a cast was locked for Avengers: Infinity War, think again. With only a week left to go before the film’s release, somehow there are still casting announcements inexplicably coming out. Luckily they’re the kind of announcements that manage to actually add to the film’s hype. The kind of announcement where you find out that an actor you LOVE, like The Leftovers and Fargo’s Carrie Coon, will be playing a Marvel villain. Like, literally EXACTLY that kind of announcement.
To be fair, my face is in there somewhere. #MoCapWhilePregnant#AvengersInfinityWar

Carrie Coon is voicing Proxima Midnight, the only female member of Thanos’s band of juiced-up henchman known as the Black Order. Based on Variety’s report, it doesn’t sound like she performed the motion capture for the character, unlike Tom Vaughn-Lawlor and Terry Notary, who voiced and mo-capped fellow Black Order members Ebony Maw and Cull Obsidian (known as Black Dwarf in the comics) respectively. But based on her above tweet… she did. While pregnant. SWOON. There is at least one other member of the group, named Corvus Glaive, that we don’t know about yet — though rumors have the role pegged to Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage.
What’s most exciting is that Marvel has already demonstrated a great track record of casting Thanos-adjacent women. Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) were the villain’s adopted daughters, and are serious ass-kickers. Here’s hoping that Proxima Midnight, and Carrie Coon, will be another worthy addition to that list.
