Bryan Singer Is Not Fired from 'Red Sonja' Because Hollywood Is a Festering Sh*Thole
After The Atlantic dropped the long-awaiting expose detailing Bryan Singer’s decades of alleged rape, you’d just assume it’d be the death blow to his career that people have been waiting for since we finally got around to snatching up Kevin Spacey. Except you’d be forgetting that this is the timeline where Donald Trump is the president because somebody had sex with their mom instead of getting rich with the sports almanac like they were supposed to.
“I continue to be in development for Red Sonja and Bryan Singer continues to be attached,” read a statement from producer Avi Lerner to The Hollywood Reporter.
Lerner added, “The over $800 million Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed, making it the highest grossing drama in film history, is testament to his remarkable vision and acumen. I know the difference between agenda driven fake news and reality, and I am very comfortable with this decision. In America people are innocent until proven otherwise.”
If you’re curious what sort of person barely waits 24 hours to essentially say, “I don’t give a f*ck about statutory rape, my boy makes BANK,” Lerner is what you might call a gaping asshole.
Case in point, the time he allegedly tried to silence Terry Crews, which legally, makes Lerner the goddamn devil.
Terry Crews, addressing a Senate Judiciary Committee last year, said Lerner pressured him to drop his allegations against Adam Venit in order to keep his role in the EXPENDABLES series, which Crews described as an example of how "abusers protect abusers" https://t.co/rUcfGrsxrs pic.twitter.com/SmaqX1VjVM— Alison Willmore (@alisonwillmore) January 24, 2019
Unsurprisingly, Lerner has also been sued for sexual harassment.
The 36-page lawsuit goes also claims Roe witnessed the “hiring Avi Lerner’s girlfriends to produce many of his movies, and giving them preferential treatment over female employees who were not having affairs with Lerner or other high level executives. When Plaintiff protested, she was told that ‘the girls’ were valuable to the company not only because they had sex with Lerner, but also because they helped procure hookers for the actors working with Nu Image.”
Cool. Cool cool cool.
Of course, the extent of Singer’s power was already evident in the years he continued to operate in Hollywood while facing the tiniest of setbacks whenever his alleged penchant for raping underage boys popped up in the press. And that power become even more pronounced when the writers of The Atlantic expose made it crystal clear that Esquire spiked their investigation out of the blue with zero explanation.
That’s the sign of a man who is way too connected and probably knows where some (young) bodies are buried. But the even colder reality is that Singer makes money hand over fist, and his most recent output is a box office smash that’s on its way to the Oscars. Granted, Singer was fired from that film, but he’s somehow still reaping the credit for it. So why would Millennium Films do something stupid like boot a golden goose out the door because sometimes that goose allegedly rapes teenagers? Sure, everyone in involved looks like degenerate assholes now, but there might be money in it, so where’s the harm in that? Besides all of the rape.
That’s fake news, which is a legitimate and not-at-all ridiculous term that automatically signifies guilt. The man who invented it has a very large brain. (Please end this nightmare.)
