After ten years and 20 films, Captain Marvel will finally be the first female-led superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Brie Larson is taking the proper inventory of how she wants this pop culture movement to go down. In a recent interview with Marie Claire UK, she called out the predominantly white dude press that generally covers Marvel movies and the venues that keep allowing it to happen. More importantly, Larson made it clear that that shit won’t fly with her.

‘About a year ago, I started paying attention to what my press days looked like and the critics reviewing movies, and noticed it appeared to be overwhelmingly white male. So, I spoke to Dr Stacy Smith at the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, who put together a study to confirm that. Moving forward, I decided to make sure my press days were more inclusive. After speaking with you, the film critic Valerie Complex and a few other women of colour, it sounded like across the board they weren’t getting the same opportunities as others. When I talked to the facilities that weren’t providing it, they all had different excuses.’

Shockingly, white boys online did not take that quote well, and the inevitable whining and bitching is already in full force. I’m talking sad bros are literally calling Brie Larson racist, which is every flavor of stupid topped with a f*cking idiot sauce. But instead of giving oxygen to the shitburgers playing “the customer is always right” card by threatening to boycott Marvel for not catering to its “core demographic of white males” — Morons are actually saying this out loud. — I’m going to amplify the positive impact of Larson stepping up for under-represented voices.

Because the internet is dark and full of terrors, there’s also a mind-meltingly ridiculous factor exacerbating the online hate towards Larson and the current incarnation of Captain Marvel: Comicsgate. What is ComicsGate? you ask. Let me nutshell for you: A bunch of angry nerds who think comic books should be a straight, white landscape where women look like Playmates with no internal organs. Any deviation from that norm results in immediate harassment. (If you’re thinking to yourself, wait, this sounds exactly like GamerGate. It is exactly GamerGate.)

As for why ComicsGate hates Captain Marvel right now, the reasons are stupid-fold. First and foremost, Carol Danvers no longer looks this:

To put it in more academic and suitable terms for our feminist hugbox site: Dorks are mad that a female superhero no longer has cartoon boobs and a leotard that rides up her super-hooch. If you think I’m exaggerating, take a spin through these Google Image results and see how quickly you can find comic book vulva.

But probably the worst sin is that Captain Marvel was rebooted by — wait for it — a girl. OH NO, anything but that. Even worse, sometimes this girl “writer” expresses her political views, and well, we can’t have that. Women should be quiet, or at the very least, rocking huge tits. Otherwise, the only reasonable thing to do is post their home address online and threaten to rape and kill them because they put a fictional character into a relatively reasonable outfit that she wears while shooting f*cking laser beams out of her hands. You obviously see the seriousness here.

But for real though, while all of that is a bucket of awful and a microcosm of everything wrong with society in general, here’s some good news. These online dorks don’t matter. They’re vocal, and yes, some of them work for major publications, but at the end of the day, they’re a small fringe who can and will be forced to adapt to a world where they’re only 99% represented in most forms of media instead of 100%. And if they don’t, well, it’s not like we live in a country where disturbed men can easily purchase a gun— oh goddamn. Never mind. Everything is awful.

Thanks, wiener-boys. Thanks a whole bunch.
