Which Fictional Character's Haircut Do You Covet?

When we’re not swooning over the delicious duds of fictional characters, us Overlords are ogling the cool coiffures and handsome hairstyles from our favorite movies and TV shows. And if money (hair amount/texture/versatility) were no object, these are the looks we’d gladly rock.

Emily has been obsessed with the ‘do of one Scrubs character who rightly got away for a decade now. “Literally every single one of J.D.’s girlfriends were too good for him. But the second you realize this is what Kylie’s hair looks like when it’s ‘messed up’

and this is what it looks like fixed

I was praying that she and her adorable curls would bolt before the first dream sequence.”

The menfolk were quick to clamor over the hairstyles in Outlander. “I’ll take either,” said Seth.

While Steven confessed, “I’d take either Ragnar’s or Lagertha’s.”

Rebecca lamented, “About the only movie hair I can manage is pre-makeover Anne Hathaway in The Princess Diaries.”

While Genevieve shared her want-to-go-to-there ‘do is “Julia Roberts in My Best Friend’s Wedding. I have lived my whole life with incredibly fine, dead straight hair. There are advantages to this, but part of me will always sigh wistfully over piles of curls.”

Riley and I both sited Mary Elizabeth Winstead as a hairspiration. But while I go gaga for her Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World look, with Ramona Flowers’ never dull dyes:

Riley strives to grow hers out to Winstead’s 10 Cloverfield Lane look, because it’s captivating.

But I can’t stop at just one. I’d like whatever you’d call Eva Green Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children coiff:

Years ago, Audrey Tautou made me believe in Amelie’s bob. But not every aspiring ingenue can make this look work. Quelle tragedie.*

When I chopped my hair short, I looked to my first Audrey, Hepburn circa Roman Holiday. No joke. Her pics were the reference for my wedding haircut.

For some sultry and sassier, I turned to the incomparable Josephine Baker from Princesse Tam-Tam.

Speaking of old school style, what I wouldn’t give for Agent Carter’s effortless yet elegant curls!

As a child, I longed to look like the ever-cool Lisa Bonet, circa Cosby Show and/or A Different World, whatever her ‘do was doing that season.

For some out-of-this-world style, I covet Rose Quartz’s pretty pink curls, which shimmer and swing in Steven Universe.

So many of my short hair cuts came from the one and only Legend of Billie Jean. If only I could make a wetsuit vest werk.

The next-level platinum of Rose McIver’s iZombie wig has me wishing I could get my hair color there. But le sigh. Last time I overpaid a colorist to get me the look, I ended up with bright yellow hair and the promise she’s make in right once my scalp healed. (I box dyed it bright pink the next day rather than looking like a spiky highlighter in the office.)

iZombie’s Rahul Kohli has hair to die (dye?) for. Plus the Pajiba 10 member has a biteable beard to boot!

And naturally any and every RuPaul runway look. Ever.

Brian, who has been shaving his own head and hasn’t set foot in a barbershop since Buffy The Vampire Slayer first premiered on The WB, has occasionally dreamed of what it would be like to grow an Afro. And if he could, it would look like Huey Freeman’s from The Boondocks: tumblr_me5ic3l22E1rgam01o1_1280.jpg

And back when he played Noah on All My Children, Keith Hamilton Cobb was rocking dreads well enough to make everyone (including Brian) go, “He’s so pretty” : jariah.jpg

Angela Bassett in Strange Days, who needs no further explanation beyond the fact that she’s Angela Bassett: gal-bassett-strangedays-jpg.jpg

Florence Kasumba (the head of the Dora Milaje who won our hearts with only one line of dialogue) in Captain America: Civil War and looked so good with her shaved head while doing it:

Speaking of shaved heads, there’s also Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, who looked like so much of an absolute bad-ass that she gave Millie Bobby Brown the confidence to do the same and have her own head shaved when she played Eleven in Stranger Things : furiosa.jpg

Halle Berry back in the early Nineties when she first grabbed everyone’s attention in Boomerang and made many a Black woman want to cut their hair short and get the same pixie haircut:

And Ava DuVernay because she is, as the kids say, finer than frog’s hair:

We showed us ours. Show us your hairspirations in comments!

*Kristy Puchko even dyed her bob black to get that Amelie look. People thought she was wearing a “fun wig.” She did not rob them of this somehow less embarrassing delusion.
