In high school, the person you sit next to in gym class or biology dictates the group you’ll hang out with for the next four years. It’s true in movies, like in Mean Girls and The Breakfast Club, but there are also the television counterparts. When I’m watching TV shows about high school life, I dream about hanging out with my imaginary best friends, chatting by our messy lockers, grabbing snacks at the corner store, and pretending to spend the night at each other’s houses while we drink wine coolers outside. Oh, youth. So which television high school cliques did you dream of joining? For the record, here are mine:
The “Freaks” of Freaks and Geeks
As much as I have a crush on my awkward boyfriend Sam Weir and love Bill’s dancing, I would’ve joined the freaks at McKinley High, and ditch classed to swoon over Nick.
The Pete & Pete Gang
Hanging out with your older brother and his friend and your superhero (everyone had one of those, right?) would’ve been a dream. I’m fudging the rules on this one since Little Pete and Nona were still in elementary school.
Crime-solvers of Veronica Mars
Similar to Buffy, but based more in reality, I would kill to be able to go on a stakeout with Veronica, Wallace, and Mac (and then they’d catch me when they found the body).
Nadia Chaudhury ditched her junior prom to go drinking in Manhattan instead.
