With the list of major celebrities who haven’t done a superhero or comics-inspired movie getting shorter and shorter every year, it’s actually pretty surprising that Anna Kendrick is still on it. Between her, ahem, spandex-worthy assets and her stellar geek cred, it seems like she should already be in the MCU somewhere.
So when asked recently if she would consider doing a comic book movie, she not only (obviously) said she’d happily consider it, but she had the PERFECT role already in mind.
My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her]. I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!
Um, OBVIOUSLY Anna Kendrick needs to play Squirrel Girl. You don’t need to know any more than she does to recognize that this needs to happen. If you had to name one actress who should play a tiny, spunky, half-woman, half-squirrel, this is what comes to mind:
Now, there’s a lot more to Squirrel Girl than just looking like a squirrel (girl). She’s a super cool character who’s contributed a ton to the Marvel universe, from nannying Jessica Jones’ and Luke Cage’s kid, to defeating Thanos. So Kendrick isn’t actively campaigning for the role, and other than James Gunn saying he’d love to do a SG movie, there’s nothing indicating this is in the works.
Still, we can dream.
