You Can Thank Vin Diesel's Family (No Not THAT One) For Cardi B Joining the 'Fast & Furious' Franchise

I love the Fast & Furious franchise. As anyone who loves this series of movies about fast cars and increasingly implausible plots knows, the main characters aren’t friends, they’re family.

With the release of F9 soon upon us, we’re starting to get to know the newer members of the cast, which include John Cena (hell yes) and Cardi B—who got the job because of family.

No, not the fictional family of Dominic Toretto, but Vin Diesel’s real-life family, which probably matters more to him, tbh. Specifically, his 4-year old daughter who is a fan, as Diesel explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! recently. I’ll let People.com explain:

“You’ve added some interesting members to the team, who have you added?” Kimmel asked the F9 star.

“John Cena, such a blessing to work with and is so incredible. Obviously, we have Helen Mirren. Obviously, Charlize [Theron],” Diesel began. “And my daughter wanted a piece of casting to happen, so Cardi B is in it,” he smiled.

The host laughed, “Your daughter said to you ‘Dad will you put Cardi B in the movie?’ And you said ‘Oh that’s a good idea?’”

“I said ‘It’s a great idea!’ As she’s listening to “I Like It Like That’,” Diesel said.

So, like, in a way, nepotism did add to the family, but also, as a F&F fan, I do think this is a solid addition to the franchise so I can’t be mad.

Naturally, we don’t really know who Cardi B will be playing in the 9th installment of the franchise, but I hope it involves lasers and motorcycle chases, because that’s what this movie series has evolved into, and I honestly couldn’t be happier.
