Barbra Streisand is the subject of a new profile in Variety, and as you’d expect from one of the great divas of modern pop culture, it’s one hell of a read. She goes into everything, from the sexism she received during her work as a director to her hatred of Trump and encounters with Harvey Weinstein. She comes across pretty good - self-aware, funny, candid, and just barmy enough. When you’re at that level of rich, you can get away with it.

Oh, and you can also have your dog cloned.

Yup, Funny Girl herself had her dog cloned. Two of her dogs, to be precise. Miss Violet and Miss Scarlett were cloned from her late dog Samantha, who died in 2007. Her third dog is named Miss Fanny, because when you played Fanny Brice you can get away with stuff like this. Barbra is waiting to see if her cloned dogs have her original pup’s ‘brown eyes and seriousness’. She also suggested the caption ‘send in the clones’ for the picture of her with the canines, so you know she’s in on the joke.

Dog cloning is, obviously, not cheap. ViaGen Pets, the top dogs — sorry — of pet cloning in the USA start at $25k for cats and $50k for dogs. The FDA have already debunked the claim that cloned animals have the same personalities and temperament as the original pets, so it makes you wonder why the hell anyone would go through the bother of this all. I guess if you’re that wealthy and you’re already bored of cocaine, you’d at least give it a go. Just make sure you stop before you decide to revive the dinosaurs.
