Did you know Nick Kroll got married? Yup! The Big Mouth co-creator/star wed landscape artist Lily Kwong recently, which Kroll announced to the world with a picture shared on Instagram. However, his parents are irked that they weren’t the first to learn about the happy couple’s engagement.

First, let’s take a look at the lovely wedding:

Now, let’s dig into the rest.

Earlier this week, Kroll appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote the new season of Big Mouth, which hits Netflix tomorrow. Among the topics discussed was how the comedian proposed to Kwong, who he’s dated since 2018.

Take a look.

Essentially, Kroll was contemplating the best approach, and floated ideas by his co-workers. In this case, he means the mega-famous co-stars and acclaimed director of the upcoming Don’t Worry Darling. That means: Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, and Olivia Wilde. I’ll give you a second to imagine this scene.

You good? Good.

So! After Kroll had successfully popped the question—while he and his lady were moving into their new home—he was preparing to tell their respective parents, when he got a text from the Vogue cover boy.

“And Harry Styles texted me,” Kroll explained to Fallon, “to be like, ‘Have you done it yet?’” Kroll responded he had and, “She said yes! So—Harry Styles was the first person to know we were getting married. Like before my parents, before Lily’s parents, before anybody—Harry was the first person to know.” Kroll then joked, “He gave us his blessing, and it meant the world.”

What a fun story, right? Yeah. Not to Kroll’s parents.

He posted an update last night on Instagram, writing, “My parents just found out they weren’t the first to know about my engagement, and they’re not happy.”

Jules and Lynn Kroll, it’ll be okay. Styles may be a world-famous pop star and fashion icon, but he’ll never take your place as Nick’s parents. However, he may get the first call on the upcoming baby’s gender reveal. After all, it’d be a shame to break with tradition.
