White House Petition to Deport Bieber hits 100,000
Most people are annoyed about Justin Bieber because of everything about him. I am annoyed by Justin Bieber for far more important reasons. You see, there’s this software called LaTex. It’s a typesetting software package that is fantastically useful for those of us who do professional writing actually in print. We’ve got references and footnotes and thousands of citations in the bibliography, so having computer software that automatically reformats and creates a PDF when the journal we’re submitting to wants endnotes instead of footnotes, or the bibliography in ASA formatting instead of APSA … well that’s awfully nice. It’s like the perfect storm of computer nerds and humanities nerds.
But the module that does the bibliography stuff is called “biber,” and so every single time I need to search for help on troubleshooting something in my bibliography, Google helpfully says: “Did you mean Bieber reference not displaying in footnote” and gives me those results instead.
No Google, that wasn’t a typo, it was typing. Quit thinking you know what’s in my head.
In any case, in the wake of whatever stuff it was I didn’t care about that got Bieber arrested, some American heroes started a petition with the White House demanding that Bieber’s visa be revoked and that he be sent back to America’s hat, from whence he came. That petition just hit 100,000 signatures, which is the magic number needed to trigger a public response from the Obama administration.
I’ll leave you with the wise words of the great and eminent sage Ozzy Osbourne:
