Whatever Happened to Nikki Blonsky from the Movie 'Hairspray'?

This morning, I was on Reddit, where they were doing a pseudo-blind-item thing with a tweet where a Hollywood writer/producer said she blocked an actor on Twitter who was using a fake account to annoy her into giving the actor a job.

People on Reddit were speculating, and someone joked that it sounded like the sort of thing that Nikki Blonsky might do because Nikki Blonsky begins every tweet with, “Hey! It’s Nikki Blonsky from the movie Hairspray,” which produces enough second-hand embarrassment on Twitter to fuel a jet engine. To wit:

Redditors then began to speculate about what happened to Nikki Blonsky when someone pointed to a 2008 incident in which Blonsky and her family got into a physical fight with the family of former America’s Next Top Model contestant Bianca Golden at an airport. According to Golden, the fight broke out because Blonsky was rude to her aunt, which led to an argument, which led to a fight in which Blonsky’s father, Carl, “knocked her out.”

“He hit my mom with such force she stumbled back and when she stumbled back the whole (Blonsky) family got up and attacked my mom.”

That is when the situation only became worse, according to Golden.

“(Nikki) takes her foot and kicks my mom in her vagina, and that’s when my mom fell out completely,” the former-reality show contestant alleged.

Blonsky was charged with assault, but the charges were later dropped.

The incident, however, did not end Blonsky’s career. In 2010, she would appear in the ABC Family sitcom, Huge, which I recall being decent (it was canceled after one season). She has not done much of note in the industry since. She reportedly works at a hair salon as a licensed cosmetologist. She came out as a lesbian in 2020 and got engaged in 2022.
