Whatever Happened to Carrie Henn, the Girl Who Played Newt in 'Aliens?'

Hey, remember that adorable moppet girl Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley protected, spawning Aliens’ (perhaps the franchise’s) most memorable line?

I always adored Newt’s sweet little face, and wondered if she’d suffered nightmares, or if she was protected from seeing those terrifying alienbeasts. Turns out they didn’t bother her at all.

“They were just my friends in an alien suit. I used to have to pretend the monster was a dog chasing after me.”

Carrie Henn, the actress who played Newt, went on to become a teacher and other than her appearances in Aliens-related documentaries, never did a movie again. But, that may be about to change. Now in her late thirties, Henn has signed on for her first film since 1986 and interestingly, it’s another science fiction thriller. Triborn (which I at first confused with Tribond, a fun, harder than you’d think board game wherein players are given three things between which there exists a commonality they must guess.) came about after the creative team behind a tribute film called Alien: Identity was shut down by Fox. Director Adam Sonnet decided to “keep the momentum going” and with the same team, create an original content film, also starring Patrick Kilpatrick, Neville Page, Rico E. Anderson, Elle Viane Sonnet and Aliens’ Ricco Ross.

And here’s what Carrie Henn, aka little Newt, looks like now (2014/5):

Still adorable (and apparently not ruined by her nightmares like I would have been)!
