How Did You Spend Your BeyDay Holiday?

Labor Day really ought to just go head and change its name to BeyDay Eve. It’s fitting that the fans of one of the hardest working women in the entertainment industry have unofficially co-opted the 3-day weekend to celebrate all things Beyoncé. Today marks Beyoncé Giselle Knowles-Carter’s 37th birthday and is an excuse for the Beyhive (in case you’re confused like I was for a long time, it’s pronounced “bee” not “bay” which, when you figure this out, makes so much more sense, her name’s not Bayoncé after all. Jesus, I’m stupid) to go nuts with memes, gifs, videos, and messages of love for their Queen. How many other pop stars can say the same? Not a one!

Here’s her momma, wishing her baby a happy Beyday on Instagram.

It’s already your birthday where you are ❤️So Happy Birthday to the nicest , owner of the most beautiful, generous , loving hearts ever !!!! Brilliant too! Always thinking , planning, analyzing, strategizing , how you can make everything you touch better! On this day you were 4 months old and i couldn’t even control the excitement and pride and the all encompassing love i felt for you , my first born ❤️ I made a vow to love and cherish you everyday . For the rest of my life ! Sometimes i can’t believe out of all the incredible people in the world i was chosen by God to be your mom❤️! The day that you and your sister entered this world were the two best days of my life , hands down !! It is a privilege to have carried you two in this body ❤️ Enjoy your B-Day !!! No one deserves it more !! I love you Mom❤️❤️❤️❤️🎂🎂🎂💐💐💐🐝🐝🐝

I am telling you, this is serious business for the Beyhive.

It seems the world is divided into two distinct categories: Those who think Beyoncé is the Bey’s Kneys, and those who can’t stand her. Very few people seem to be lukewarm on her. Personally, I think she’s amazing. I respect her talent, drive, work ethic, and ability to create iconic moments for herself that reflect her roots and uplift the black community. She’s a bad mamajama, there’s no arguing that point. So if you hate Beyoncé, why tho? I honestly can’t think of one good reason to hate on Beyoncé. I wouldn’t consider myself a member of the Beyhive (that’s not how I stan), but I respect her hustle. And I am not alone.

I mean, show me who else is making entrances like Beyoncé. I’d like to see Carol from Accounting walk into a meeting like this:

And maybe she will, Bey is inspirational like that. Get it, Carol. Let them know their expense reports were due yesterday.

The Beyhive is chock full of famous fans, even fictional ones.

But famous non-fiction women love her too.

The Broadway Beyhive is patiently waiting for Beyoncé to reach her EGOT destiny.

And like any other holiday, #Beyday is inevitably becoming more and more commercialized every year.

Errybody trying to get a piece of that sweet Beyday pie (as you know, cake is for commoners).

And if you had any doubts about Bey’s impact on the culture, here are over two minutes of your favs singing her praises.

So happy birthday, Beyoncé! May you continue to grow, thrive, and inspire for decades more to come!
