Travis Kelce ‘Feels Protective’ of Taylor Swift, His Dad Approves

On a recent episode of the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, the Kelce brothers recapped Travis’s recent outings with Taylor Swift (whose fans Jason Kelce credited with the recent success of the podcast).

“Did you get any pushback from the actual security guards about pushing them out of the way the one night?” Jason asked his brother after they watched a TikTok video parodying an interaction between Travis and one of Swift’s security guards, in which Travis is seen tapping the security guard on the back as if to say, “I’ve got this,” before helping his beloved out of the car.

“Pushing him out of the way?” Travis responded incredulously. “I didn’t push him, I placed my hand on the gentleman’s back to let him know I was behind him. If I would have pushed him he probably would have tased me.”

“Do you feel like you’re a security guard when you’re with Taylor?” Jason then asked.

“I feel like whenever I’m on a date, I’m always like, having, like, the sense of, like, I’m a man in this situation. I’m, like, protective, yeah, for sure. You always have that feeling or that self-awareness, I guess,” Travis said.

He felt especially protective when he realized Taylor and his dad, Ed Kelce, were talking at one of his games, saying he worried it would be a “terrifying conversation.”

“I felt terrible. I felt terrible for Taylor,” he said.

But Travis had nothing to worry about. Ed later called Swift “a very, very sweet, very charming, down-to-earth young woman.”

“I’ll tell you something very special that I noticed about Taylor the first time I met her. We’re sitting in the suite, she gets up and in the front room, she gets up to go get a drink or something and she starts picking up empty bottles, cans, plates that are scattered around. Because in the suites everybody gets stuff and you empty it down wherever you can. And I’m just thinking, I don’t think she got the diva memo. She didn’t get the spoiled musician. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really to me said a whole lot,” he said.
