Tom Cruise is Absolutely Insane

I have no idea why the cast of Mission Impossible 6 was on the Graham Norton show this week. The movie doesn’t come out until this summer; they haven’t finished shooting it yet; and there’s still no real footage from the film to show yet. But, Cruise is always a fascinating celebrity to have on a show like this, in part because he really is the most professional actor on the planet (psychotically so), but as a “personality,” he’s also one of the most profoundly boring people on the planet (I doubt you’ll ever see Cruise taken down by a sexual harassment scandal because 1) he probably has the HR manual memorized (or he wrote it himself) and 2) he has no time for that business. He’s too preoccupied with whatever project he’s working on.

It doesn’t make Tom Cruise a good person (and his relationship with Scientology is all kinds of troubling), but good god, is he a dedicated one. Case in point: On this week’s episode of Graham Norton, we do get to see the footage from Mission Impossible 6 where Cruise breaks his ankle doing a stunt a guy who gets paid as much as Cruise should never be doing (and ultimately, the broken ankle set production on the movie back for weeks).

At any rate, the insane thing about it is what Cruise does after he breaks his ankle (and there’s no question about how broken it is). Just watch, because this is madness:

Huh, so he’s not actually invincible, after all.
