Tig Notaro was on Stephen Colbert last night to promote her new Netflix special. In the first half of the interview, Notaro spoke about being in the second season of Star Trek, where she has no idea whatsoever what she is saying. However, she did get to name her own character (Jett Reno).

I’m not here to talk about that.

In the back half of the interview, Notaro speaks about her upcoming Netflix movie with Jennifer Aniston, a movie she wrote in which she plays First Lady to Aniston’s President. She and Aniston are now friends, and Aniston — who is a super chill person — sends rainbow-y cheerful texts, which she finds striking.

I’m not here to talk about that, either.

In the middle of those two conversations, Notaro briefly takes a moment — not to knock anyone — but to say this:

“I just want to say about Monica Lewinsky, I know her. Not well, but I want to remind people that, to get a job at a young age as an intern at the White House, you have to be an exceptional human being. And she is. And I just want to remind people of that. And that’s all I want to say.”

And that is why Tig Notaro is such an exceptional person: She took a moment in the middle of an interview to promote her work to say, “Hey! Monica Lewinsky is an exceptional person.”

One Mississippi has been canceled by Amazon, but the first two seasons are still there. They are short. They are exceptional. They are life affirming and funny and heartfelt and wonderful and they will hit you in the happy-sad place real hard. You should watch them.

That is all.
