Look, we already know know Gwendoline Christie is a goddess. She’s been kicking ass since the second she stepped into Brienne of Tarth’s car (what the crew calls her armor). She’s smart, gorgeous, funny, lovable, goofy and she’s set to rock our worlds as The Force Awakens’ Captain Phasma who also wears a car, the mercurial silver “sexy” armor that’s earned her “The Chrome Trooper” nickname. Clearly as excited as we are, Christie joyfully texted the moment she “peaked,” in other words, made it onto a Star Wars lunchbox. But, it’s this photo accompanying her entry in Harper’s Bazaar’s “Women Who Dare” (celebrating “women who live by their own rules and are brave”) that’ll take your breath away, maybe permanently. I’m pretty sure I gasped out loud, and then just stared and stared.
Go ahead, EMBIGGEN IT.
I’m sorry if you’re dead, but it was worth it, don’t you think? (I wish they could find a way to work this into Game of Thrones, just to watch Jaime Lannister’s mouth drop open.)
Christie embraces her fabulous height (6’3,” 6’7” in heels!) saying, “You can get to the bar easier. You can catch the bar person’s eye, and mouth what you want, and by the time you’re there you’ve got it. I’m like a human plow. I also have a selfie-stick arm. To get the same angle as I get with my selfie arm, you’d need a crane.”
She also loves her Phasma chrome so much she’d “…wear it all the time, in the way that Andy Warhol never changed his outfits. Didn’t he say that stars should never change their look because they become iconic? I’m just living that Andy Warhol quote. All I’m doing.”
I love this woman. Sorry Jedi, I’ve gone over to the dark side.
