When the pandemic began a year ago, Seth Rogen entered it as an actor best known for Pineapple Express, Superbad, and the Neighbors films, among many other film and television projects. As we begin the process of emerging from the pandemic, however, Seth Rogen is an entrepreneur. His cannabis brand Houseplant launched today, and while I wanted to go check it out for myself, I discovered that there’s a wait that is at least an hour long.
To get onto a website.
Also, if any items are sold out… there might be another way to get them through the site.. (there is)

This thing is going to be huge. I expect that Houseplant, in the not too distant future, will probably end up being a much bigger moneymaker for Seth Rogen and his writing partner Evan Goldberg than his acting career. Aside from Snoop Dogg, there’s probably no one on the planet under the age of Cheech & Chong better associated with pot, and there’s probably not a pot smoker alive who wouldn’t want Seth Rogen as their weed dealer.
Houseplant, however, is more than a cannabis seller, it’s a lifestyle brand, not unlike that of Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP, only instead of eggs women can shove into their vaginas, Seth Rogen is selling ashtrays, vases, vinyl records. It’s a goddamn online headshop for respectable people.
Here’s how I make an ashtray! This is me making one of the prototypes for what became the Ashtray Set by Seth. The one you can buy from https://t.co/TNjpWFhbWB on Thursday is based off of this design! I filmed this in my garage! pic.twitter.com/ujRQtKsuAx

I’ve lost a approximately 200090000 lighters throughout my life so we made one that even I could keep track of. pic.twitter.com/HZl1Hq5xLg

We thought it would be cool if there was a box set of vinyl with different mixes of music to go along with different types of weed, so we made one. Here’s me vibing the fuck out to Sativa. (Available tomorrow from https://t.co/TNjpWFhbWB) pic.twitter.com/dtasmjJxuS

This is amazing. Also, evidence that adults without children have so much more time.
“Brands,” however, do not come cheap, and those who want products associated with the star of The Guilt Trip will have to pay a premium. That lighter, for instance, costs $220. The ashtray set is $85. And that three-album vinyl set will set you back $95. All three of those items are less than 3.5 grams of Houseplant’s cannabis strain, Pink Moon, which goes for $60 via the Amuse delivery service.
It’s only being sold in California, but I’d expect that Houseplant will eventually expand into every state that sells cannabis, and that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg become the Ben and Jerry of marijuana within the decade.
