Racism Exists Because You Believe in Evolution, According to the Duggars

Racism is a massive issue in this country. Between Sandra Bland and the continued struggle in Ferguson, we need answers. We need a way to improve the systemic racism that is destroying our nation.

The Duggars probably don’t have the answer. But, dammit, they’re going to talk about it anyway and speak on it with stupid authority. And if you’re still confused about what white privilege is, that’s what it is.

The Jessa one recently posted a video to YouTube wherein her husband, Ben Seewald, talks to his I HAVE A BLACK FRIEND SO I HAVE AUTHORITY brother in Christ Dante Berry about how Christians should respond to racism. “Well, not all Christians are white, racist stupid question, but white Christians should respond by listening to actual people of color about their lives and the challenges they face, and be truly Christian by being good and decent humans who don’t judge or mistreat any other human being for any reason,” said no one.

No, instead, Seewald blames evolution.

“There’s been a lot of, like, tension in America between, like, blacks and whites, and in the media, too. There’s been all these reports and, like, ‘race war’ and, you know, going on and everything, and these killings and people saying, ‘Hey, we’re trying to start a race war?’ How should we respond to that as Christians?”

Totes, bro. Please go on.

“That’s right, there’s no room for racism in Christianity. That all comes from the Devil. That all comes from, like, this false religion out here, evolution, that stuff? Teaching that, like, some people are ‘more evolved?’”

The fuck is this clamseed talking about? A) That’s not how evolution works at all, not that I should be surprised that these people literally don’t know what evolution is, and B) I don’t know what the “some people are ‘more evolved’” thing is trying to say but I feel like it’s the most racist thing I’ve ever heard.

This is actually not the first time the Duggar clan has blamed evolution for the world’s problems. The Jessa one actually said pretty much the same thing when she visited the Holocaust museum.

I walked through the Holocaust Museum again today… very sobering. Millions of innocents denied the most basic and fundamental of all rights—their right to life. One human destroying the life of another deemed “less than human.” Racism, stemming from the evolutionary idea that man came from something less than human; that some people groups are “more evolved” and others “less evolved.” A denying that our Creator—GOD—made us human from the beginning, all of ONE BLOOD and ONE RACE, descendants of Adam.

The belief that some human beings are “not fit to live.” So they’re murdered. Slaughtered. Kids with Down syndrome or other disabilities. The sickly. The elderly.
The sanctity of human life varies not in sickness or health, poverty or wealth, elderly or pre-born, little or lots of melanin [making you darker or lighter skinned], or any other factor. “If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.
If thou forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to be slain;
If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not He that pondereth the heart consider it? and He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? and shall not He render to every man according to his works?” (Proverbs 24:10-12)

May we never sit idly by and allow such an atrocity to happen again. Not this generation.

We must be a voice for those who cannot speak up for themselves. Because EVERY LIFE IS PRECIOUS.
