Terry Crews Says That Real Men Are Feminists, and You Should Listen Because He's Bigger than You

Terry Crews (aka Tiny Terry) may have stuck his foot in his mouth last summer by discounting the value of single mothers, but at least on the subject of feminism, he knows what’s up. He has a new book coming out, Manhood, and while the title might suggest a terrible thesis that the vile, misogynist men’s rights fuck-Os might get behind, Manhood actually lays out a more modern definition of what a man should be.

In short, according to Time Magazine, Manhood says that men should “support feminism, don’t treat women like they’re trophies and stop subscribing to ‘man code.’”

Tim Allen has a bone to pick with you, Crews.

“The big thing about feminism is that it scares men,” says Crews, who compares supporting feminism to supporting the civil rights movement. “I want to be clear: feminism is not saying women are better than men. That’s not what’s going. Some people totally see it as that.”

Well, sure. If by “some people,” you mean “idiots,” but OK! Tiny Terry takes it a step further, however, and nails it:

I kind of relate it to slavery. Or even civil rights. Let’s not even go back to slavery, let’s go to civil rights—the people who were silent at the lunch counters, when it was the black lunch counter and the white one or the schools were segregated…and you were quiet. You were accepting it. Same thing with men right now. If you don’t say anything, you are, by your silence—it’s acceptance. I’m not going to be silent.

Crews also compares the way that some men — specifically athletes — treat women is no better than ISIS or The Taliban.

“What happens is [athletes] win and they go, ‘You know that girl? She’s my trophy. I deserve that girl. In fact, she don’t even want to be with me, but I don’t care. I’m going to take it,’” Crews says. “What kind of mindset is that? Never, never, never, never, never should that ever be accepted. That’s not ‘code.’ That’s Taliban. That’s ISIS.”

Man code!
