I remember the exact moment it dawned on me. I was wasting a quiet moment on a silly quiz on a site renowned for silly quizzes (let’s call it FuzzBeed), when a big important question asked which character from The Good Place was my soulmate — and the answer hit me like a runaway trolley: Michael. It was an epiphany that looked a little like this:
It shouldn’t have been a surprise. Ever since Ted Danson played the funny dad in the Three Men… movies (as opposed to the earnest dad and the dad who draws a lot), the crush was there. Of course it would resurface now. If you’ve never watched The Good Place, give it a whirl: it’s smart, hilarious, philosophical and packed full of cute stars. And reigning over them all, is the legend himself. Having spent most of season 1 seeming like a lovable doofus, Ted Danson’s Michael is now openly and playfully amoral, manipulating the humans with glee, while trying to keep his experiment going. Everybody is a forking delight on this show, but Danson is totally the king…
I mean, look at those dapper threads. How many guys can pull off that much plaid with a bow-tie and pocket square? And he has fancy cups!
Look at the casual yet commanding way he leans!
He’s got range! He’s adorable as season 1’s Doofus Michael:
And when he’s Naughty Michael? Look at that wicked, mischievous glint in his eye!
How many people can sell lines like this?
I’m calling it: Ted Danson is the silver fox we need right now. Who’s with me?
