Taylor Swift Is Dealing With A Stalker ... Again

Taylor Swift has a long and unfortunate history with stalkers. Since 2012, a dozen men have been arrested, slapped with restraining orders, and/or charged. Their crimes include trespassing, stalking, breaking into Taylor’s homes, threatening her and her family, and burglary. In 2022, one guy drunkenly crashed his car into T-Swift’s Tribeca apartment before attempting to force his way into her building. It’s dark stuff.

This week, 34-year-old Taylor is once again dealing with a scary stalker situation. On Saturday afternoon, 33-year-old David Crowe from Seattle was arrested after a 911 call reported a “disorderly person” hanging out near Taylor’s Tribeca apartment. Due to the existence of an outstanding warrant for failure to answer a summons in Brooklyn back in 2017, police took David into custody. He was later released.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that David had been seen lurking around the neighborhood for weeks. One told Page Six that he’d gone up to Taylor’s door: “I’m not sure if he knocked or rang the doorbell.” Another said the suspected stalker had been “sleeping on the stoop, chain-smoking constantly, shouting and generally making everyone uncomfortable.”

Unfortunately for Taylor, Saturday’s arrest did little to dissuade David from returning to her home. He was spotted in the area around 3pm and taken back into police custody about three hours later. One source claims Taylor’s security team asked cops to arrest David away from her building: “They went after him on Hudson by Bubby’s. He resisted, and they had to tackle him.”

David was charged with two counts each of harassment and stalking. His arraignment date is TBD. Here’s the police statement, via NBC News:

“Officers were approached by multiple complainants who pointed out an emotionally disturbed male acting erratically at the location,” police said.

“Officers observed the male harassing multiple complainants and took him into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported and the following individual was charged,” the statement said.

Taylor hasn’t commented on these latest incidents, but she’s talked about how the threat of violence affects her daily life. In 2019, she told Elle magazine:

I carry QuikClot army grade bandage dressing, which is for gunshot or stab wounds. Websites and tabloids have taken it upon themselves to post every home address I’ve ever had online. You get enough stalkers trying to break into your house and you kind of start prepping for bad things.

The same year Taylor did that interview, a man broke into her Tribeca apartment and ransacked it. This wasn’t even his first Taylor-related offence; in 2018, he broke into her home, took a shower, and napped. That same year, another man got ten months probation after threatening to kill Taylor’s family.

Stalkers: reason #180 being famous sounds like a living hell (#181 is those damn award show lip readers).
