There’s been talk in recent years about how “soft” the rap game has gotten, as though the drive by shootings of the 90s and the violent deaths of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac were something to aspire to. I realize that there’s still a lot of rapping about shooting and being about that life, so there’s obviously a level of disconnect, but I honestly can’t fault anyone for preferring to settle beefs with singles rather than guns.
Apparently not everyone feels this way, though, as rap mogul Suge Knight was shot six times at a West Hollywood club where Chris Brown was hosting a VMAs party. He was rushed to surgery and is currently expected to recover. Two other party goers were also wounded. Chris Brown tweeted “It’s disappointing that we as a society can’t can’t have fun or enjoy ourselves without altercations sometimes” and when Chris Brown tells you you’re too aggro, that might be the time to sit down and re-think your life choices.
Interesting fact, though, this is the SECOND time that Suge has been shot at a pre-VMAs party. The last time was in 2005 in Miami. He was also driving the car that Tupac was shot in. Were I Mr.Knight, I might be considering a change of career around now.
