A lot of the time, Twitter can seem like a cacophony of opinions, hashtags and outrages. But sometimes there can be a bit of grace found in a kind word, a thoughtful reflection, or a personal revelation. And on rare occasion, someone can use the 140-word format to spin a saga that treats each tweet like a chapter complete with cliffhanger.

A private conversation between celebrated screenwriter Christopher (The Usual Suspects, Edge of Tomorrow, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation) and cult-adored writer/director Mike Dougherty (Trick ‘r Treat, Krampus) spurred the former to publically share the story of his visit to Devils Tower, the Wyoming landmark that plays at the center of Close Encounters of the Third Time iconic climax. Thanks to McQuarrie’s well-plotted tweets and an invite to eavesdrop, we can all enjoy its twists, humor and final revelation.
