Savannah Chrisley recently told Entertainment Tonight that her parents’ living conditions in prison are worsening, and it’s all her fault.
“It’s been really tough [for them] since I started speaking out about everything. That’s been the toughest part. More so for Dad. There’s been a lot of retaliation, so we have to worry [about him],” she said.
The “speaking out” has been on her podcast, “Unlocked With Savannah Chrisley,” on Instagram and in another interview with ET in September. She claims that since then, “the guards have been targeting her father,” Todd Chrisley.
“Right now, they’re trying to move him from the facility he’s at now because of the latest things that I’ve posted on Instagram. And that’s the tough part—the moment you start speaking out, you have to pay for it.”
The Instagram posts have included letters from whistleblowers, speaking to the prison conditions her parents are subject to.
She claims that her father, is “being prevented from setting up phone calls with his lawyers,” and that guards are scheming to clean out his commissary account.
“That’s their way of retaliating against these men for speaking out. They’re literally going to starve them to death.”
But she says her dad wants her to keep speaking out, explaining that they had a conversation in which he said “If I have to be uncomfortable in order to hopefully implement and force change, then I’m willing to do it.”
She says her mother, Julie, hasn’t been targeted in the same way but maintains that “Her living conditions are terrible,” and “Some of the male guards, they definitely speak down on the women.”
Todd and Julie were convicted of fraud in November 2022 and started their prison sentences in January. Todd is serving ten years in Florida and Julie is serving five in Kentucky, but they are both appealing their convictions.
“Now we’re just waiting on the appeals court to rule on how to move forward,” Savannah said. In the meantime, the 26-year-old is serving as guardian of her younger brother, Grayson, 17, and her 11-year-old niece, Chloe, who was under her parents’ care before they went to prison.
Savannah appeared on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test this fall, but went home early so that she could be with her family. She also recently debuted a new relationship with Robert Shiver, “a former football player whose ex-wife allegedly plotted to murder him.”
It’s been a big year for Savannah, and she’s handling it surprisingly well.
